Modified Flushmount Setup To keep running lights and turn signals functional
After looking at the available Flushmount Blinkers out there I realized that you lost the functionality of the running lights because they all used single filament bulbs. There is one exception, LP Large Flushmount IV's have dual filament bulbs, but they are too dang big for my taste. I wanted the small lens with a dual filament bulb and soon figured out it would have to be a modified Mod (if there is such thing).
Since I was getting rid of the stock signals anyway, I decided to take them apart to see what I could use. I found once I got rid of all the plastic, what was left was a very simple wire harness attached to a bulb mount with minimal tin for a reflector. So I snipped one side of the reflector off with tin snips and taped on some tin foil and made a real cheap reflector that would fit behind the fairing. I then drilled a hole in tab that I left on the reflector to mount it to the fairing. I used the hole that the original turn signal used to mount through to mount the new assembly. It fits great right behind the fairing. Finally, I pryed the lens cover off the Flushmount that I bought and put it directly on the outer fairing using 3M mounting tape.
The final product maintains all the functionality of the stock turn signals with the sleek look of Flushmounts! If you have any questions please feel free to email me at: mark@trademarkmotorsports.com |
